What is KickStart Chester?
KickStart Chester is a coalition of like-minded individuals who have come together to support the spectacular $500 million waterfront revitalization project in historic Chester, Pennsylvania. The mixed-use development will sit on more than 80 acres adjacent to the Commodore Barry Bridge, along the beautiful Delaware River.
The great City of Chester, in Delaware County, is an Act 47 distressed community that has felt the sting of industrial decline along the waterfront since the end of World War II. But hope and pride is being restored with several exciting, new economic-development projects. This latest effort – with a new, 20,000-seat Major League Soccer stadium as the catalyst – is expected to "KickStart Chester" by creating thousands of new jobs, bringing renewed life and vitality to an area vacant for decades and continuing the City's efforts to open up its waterfront to the public.
This powerful public-private partnership has strong bi-partisan support. Public support for the development will help drive a retail, office and residential "renaissance on the river" in the City of Chester!
